Danielle Savre on Body Positivity and Season 2 ‘Station 19’ Secrets
Retreat magazine had a sit down with “station 19” star Danielle Savre on body positivity. Read all about it in this Extra online edition.
Inside, she talks about body positivity, remembering how the issue came up on set. “I remember telling one of my cast mates, who was anxious because a bra scene was just sprung on her, that it has nothing to do with how you look its about how you carry yourself,” Savre tells Retreat. “I know that’s easier said than done, and I even have down days, but start practicing it and you will be amazed at how much happier you are with both yourself and with life in general.”
She also talks about her character, Maya, a bisexual firefighter, saying, “Maya is the believer, the optimistic realist, loyal friend, feminist, determined to a fault and her own worst critic. She has so many facets to play off of between her brother being a recovering addict to her winning a gold medal at the London Olympics before hanging up her shoes and deciding to become a firefighter. Usually, you start a show with a character that you have to build from the ground up with no backstory. Maya was handed over to me with so many interesting and exciting elements that made stepping into her shoes effortless.”
